Eiffel Tower

Such a charming conception to use these arches as supports. I snapped this on a perfectly clear spring day in Paris

Minimalist

Once again the sun shone in a cloudless sky on this glorious spring day in Paris giving a wonderfully brilliant background to the tower as we approached from Trocadero. I snapped this shot and then joined the queue to walk to the second stage, (always much faster than the lift and far more picturesque in my opinion). It is just so much more than a tourist trap. That something conceived as an impermanent folly should have survived so long and was for so many decades the tallest structure in the world is amazing in itself and the combination of structure and appealing design is forever interesting. I only wish they had kept the original stage 1 balconies that you see on the early pictures! So lavish. Thank god for radio I say as it seems that one of the main reasons why it wasn’t torn down was its ideal use as a radio tower.
