From Above

We photographed this view from a platform in Dinan. Oh that we had the time to wander down to see it!

After wandering in bliss about the ever charming streets of Dinan we went in search of the river Rance which runs back to St Malo. Never having been here before we expected Dinan to be level with the embankments. Suddenly a platform and a crenelated wall before us and a void beyond. We stepped forward and looked down.

This entrancing view met our eyes and the surprise was exhilarating. Naturally we had to take photographs and both I and my most excellent friend, The Doctor, bemoaned the fact that we had not time to descend to this valley of joy. Promising to return one day by boat, we dashed back to catch the last bus to our snuggery in St Malo. Another day well spent.

  1. Your photograph is stunning and brings back memories of my visit to Dinan and St. Malo a few years ago. We visited Dinan on a market day and it was quite perfect, and St. Malo is an amazing old walled city. As you say, Brittany is wonderful.
