I have been contemplating changing my blog name for a while now. I felt a little uncertain after I first created it when all of my French speaking friends pointed out that it made no sense and was misspelled. As they are quite fastidious about such things I was careful to disabuse them of these notions by showing the provenance for the phrase, A ma vie de coer entier, but a little something inside me said “Who else is ever going to know this, or indeed care?”
Like anything you have for a while (unless it was some hideous Chris Kringle gift you shoved into a cupboard and forgot) A ma vie de coer entier grew on me and I felt a little thrill each time I typed “A ma v….” into the line at the top of my browser where the computer recognised the whole phrase at once and took me straight to my virtual cultural oasis.
Well, I have decided that most people look at “A ma vie de coer entier” and, like my French friends, shake their heads and smile sadly at what appears to be the appalling French and find a blog which has true “Coeur” and hence more worthy of their attention.
Now what do you call a blog like mine? It is an eclectic mix of photos, reflections, travel stories, random asides and an obsession with France.
“TJ Paris’s French Obsession and other stuff”?
“Oo La La from La La Land”?
“OMD! (Oh Mon Dieu)”?
Goethe was not the most cheery of chappies but he did come up with a quote I particularly like,
La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin.
ENGLISH: Life is too short to drink bad wine.
This is what my blog is all about, making the most out of life. Enjoying the best that the world has to offer when you can and making the best out of it when you can’t.
So for the moment, welcome to “La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin”, until the little voice inside me says “It is too long” or worse still “Who else is ever going to know this, or indeed care?”

Since I don’t speak French, your blog’s title has always made my head tilt a little, but I do love the new title (once I read the translation,) and it does fit your blog’s wonderful content.
However, your other three choices are great. I’m very torn between them. At first, I was going to vote for TJ’s French obsession & other stuff. Of course, & stuff is in my blog’s title so that one might just have positive associations for me. But Oo La La from La La Land–that’s lyrical 😉
Whatever you call it–it will still be a great site.

Hi, I love your post and your blog?
We can feel your energy, love of life and of a certain elegance through it.
I noticed that you had misspelled your title Coeur Coer, but I though it was charming..; Nobody needs to be perfect to be right and loved, in fact I think lots of little imperfections makes life more interesting.
It makes things and people charming.
Anyhow, I understand we all care about what people think, but your opinion should matter, unless it is harmful to others of course.
Any how, I love your new title, indeed life if to short to drink bad wine, or eat bad food unless you are starving and no other choice….

Thanks again for your most generous and thoughtful comments. I think life can lovely (and elegant) if you look for the bright side when you can and be philosophical about the harder parts.
While I would much rather have lovely conversations with interesting, cosmopolitan people such as your kind self I, alas, must now go back to work to earn the money to maintain my Bijou hovel in the manner to which I am accustomed.

PS: I have red your other post, and made some research. It was not a mistake it was french called middle french, from 13 to 15 century the french kings decided to write more in french and abandon Lantin in Public life. therefore it was that time correct spelling 😉 thank you for that jump in the past.

Hi! I am adoring the new name. You still have the old name (which was brilliant to in my opinion) and have the coeur in it 🙂 You have them both now! 🙂 PS: OMD is awesome and I am going to use it in my text-speak!

OMD! 😉 I must confess to not having encountered your blog before, under any name. I noticed “La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin” on your Sainte Chapelle post, and thought it was a great sentiment. Now I know the story behind the name!
