River Paradise

This beautiful river in Kampot, Cambodia flows past misty mountains which are visible from the simple jetties that dot the bank of Les Manguiers.

Next to the Kampot River is a stunningly beautiful place called “Les Manguiers” (The Mango Trees). Built by a charming Frenchman and his family it consists of an array of delightful little wooden cottages on stilts and is designed to represent a traditional Cambodian village. A wonderful retreat which has none of the slickness of a commercial “resort” but all of the charm that nature can bestow with spectacular views to the mountains across the unspoilt river.

One night we travelled in a traditional craft up the river in complete darkness until we reached a spot where all the trees were suddenly aglow with hundreds of fireflys and we sat, transfixed, as out dexterous guide dashed into the undergrowth to return with a water bottle filled with these glowing wonders.

A truly magical experience.

I was in Csmboya, but… I didn’t visit that part, up to now it’s a non turistic area,.I’ve seen in a documental that a French companya wanted yo install a resort, but the government didn’t agree and me too, I love travelling, but many places are almost drestoyed its native charming due to resorts.
