At the top of Mont St Michel an open courtyard pavement bears strange numbers.

At the top of the Mont St Michel is a wide platform paved in stone. From the parapet surrounding one end you can gaze out across the marshes and to the Brittany countryside far beyond. Some of the stones are marked with strange numbers and it is speculated that they are stonemason’s marks to show who carved them so they could be payed for each stone they worked on.

I prefer to believe that they are a secret code that undoubtedly holds the answer to some vital mystery, (probably something to do with the Knights Templar or the whereabouts of the Holy Grail).

Well, one day I am sure they will discover an overlooked manuscript in the Vatican that explains it all and then we will see who is right!
