From Above

This was one of my earliest posts, unseen by most, and I thought it matched the Daily Photo Prompt “Journey” from Jennifer Nichole Wells photographically inspiring blog nicely so have given it a revival. It is a picture I particularly love because we discovered the view so unexpectedly after a perfect day wandering about the truly beautiful town of Dinan.

Life is too short to drink bad wine

We photographed this view from a platform in Dinan. Oh that we had the time to wander down to see it! We photographed this view from a platform in Dinan. Oh that we had the time to wander down to see it!

After wandering in bliss about the ever charming streets of Dinan we went in search of the river Rance which runs back to St Malo. Never having been here before we expected Dinan to be level with the embankments. Suddenly a platform and a crenelated wall before us and a void beyond. We stepped forward and looked down.

This entrancing view met our eyes and the surprise was exhilarating. Naturally we had to take photographs and both I and my most excellent friend, The Doctor, bemoaned the fact that we had not time to descend to this valley of joy. Promising to return one day by boat, we dashed back to catch the last bus to our snuggery in St Malo. Another day well spent.
