Dried Arrangement

After a spectacular show in spring the strange Banksia gradually turns into this bizarre object.

Australian native plants can be quite beautiful. Often they can be quite bizarre.

Banksias are one such plant. When in full bloom these flowers look like a technicolor bottle brush and their olive colored serrated leaves give a wonderful structural quality to any floral arrangement.

When dried however the seed pods take on a grotesque quality more closely resembling the pottery creations of the Martin Brothers or some form of deformed hedgehog.

I snapped this photo just nearby which gives you a good idea of what a dried Banksia nut looks like and fitted well into the theme “Dry” as part of Jennifer Nichole Wells photo blog this week

In response to the One Word Photo Challenge-Dry.
