It’s too darned hot!

Wandering around one of the pristine islands off the coast of Exmouth I found this shell just resting on the sand and took this picture before a footprint spoiled it. I resisted the temptation to souvenir it as it was so perfect where it was.

I thought myself hot

Like a raging forest fire

My spreading sunburn.

***

Hot, cold, start, finish

No sooner begins then ends

My broken shower.

***

Like hot black coffee,

So delicious at the start

But such bitter dregs

It’s Ronovan Writes weekly haiku time and the prompts for this week are Start and Hot. What does one do with these? Well these are 3 attempts to make haiku sense out of them.

And if these aren’t hot enough for you please watch the talented Ann Miller doing her version of “Too Darned Hot” from “Kiss Me Kate”, possibly the best musical ever made. It is worth waiting for her amazing tap dance. Also Howard Keel’s astonishing cod piece…something once seen and never to be forgotten. (this is not a good thing.)
