Haiku – The Tight Rope

numbers on wall (Large)

This is a picture of a wall in the now closed Fremantle Prison. Prisoners would be made to line up next to the numbers. The hand painted numbers in the bright summer light had a strangely human quality lacking in the austere buildings that made up this disquieting place.

Stretched like a tight rope

Life, like sun drenched stepping stones

Too warm for comfort
