A tree and two poems

Paper bark tree, Western Australia

Random Patterns (in response to NaPoWriMo)

Paper bark tree, Western Australia
Wood worms write on the paperbark and leave their cryptic messages.

Little creatures move in the darkness,

Burrowing through the paperbark.

Drawing strange tendrils

Of childish seaweed,

Or branches of a Fauvist tree.

Matisse cut out collages.

Beneath the surface

Life moves imperceptibly

Tracing its own path

This is a photo of the trunk of a “Paper bark” tree, an Australian native tree with layer upon layer of tissue paper thin bark. We used to love pulling off the layers as kids. Sometimes larvae burrow under the layers and make these trails.

  1. Awesome! A history lesson (love hearing about trees from places I have yet to visit) and some engaging writing all in one handy package. Thank you for being and sharing you!

  2. That is an amazing image of the abstract art created by nature’s creatures. Beautiful visual, TJ. Love the feel of both your poems speaking of hidden life forces at work. πŸ™‚

          1. Hehehe, nice dodging, but I meant the Blush πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ and your apparent modesty cannot cover up the fact that you are a great sight to behold. Just saying πŸ˜€

          2. You are too kind. (blushing even more) Alas I must tear myself form the land of poetry and interesting, charming people to the land of bland reality and take my car in for a service. Looking forward to keeping in touch and enjoying more of your creations! Best wishes. TJ

          3. It filled a space. πŸ™‚ I would be delighted to have a glamorous week. I have already had the car serviced and the plumber in. How glamorous is that!!! πŸ™‚
