See the baying hounds
Gain upon the frightened stag
My waking nightmares
In response to RonovanWrites weekly haiku challenge with the prompts hound and gain
About the picture: The porcelain lady would have originally sat atop a pin cushion in all her Edwardian finery while the monkey is a terrifying remnant of my childhood, brought back from overseas by my doting grandparents and brought out on special occasions to the horrified fascination of the children. It no longer bares its teeth and projects its eyes when you whack it on the head but I still find it dreadful.
Nice haiku. That monkey is appalling.
